Hefei BOE Hospital aims to establish a world-class intelligent hospital in Hefei, embracing a design philosophy centered on simplicity, advanced technology, and healing gardens, with a strong focus on enhancing the patient experience. The hospital features multiple gardens spanning from the rooftop to the ground level, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces with sustainable venues. This creates a natural and comfortable environment that caters to patients, their families, and medical staff alike.
Using evidence-based design principles, the architects carefully balance and separate spatial functions and organizational flow. The design team is dedicated to delivering a high-quality, safe, and efficient medical environment for patients and visitors, while simultaneously providing an excellent workplace for healthcare professionals.

The outpatient building is designed to accommodate the highest foot traffic within the hospital. The main entrance is strategically positioned between two outpatient buildings, providing direct access to the hospital’s internal public corridor known as Medical Street. This corridor acts as a central hub, efficiently directing patients, visitors, and staff towards the east and west wings of the outpatient area.
Medical Street also connects vertical transportation from the basement to the ground floor, supports the commercial services required by the hospital, and links the outpatient building with the medical technology building located on the hospital’s northern side.

The hospital’s core departments, including the emergency, radiology, and surgical units, are all housed within the medical technology building. To enhance connectivity, the inpatient building is situated directly above this facility. Located on the northern side of the site, the inpatient building offers panoramic views of the lake, while its rooftop garden on the southern side provides a tranquil green space for the south-facing wards.
The inpatient building’s entrance is positioned between two wings, making it easily identifiable and accessible for patients to reach either section conveniently.

The overall architectural and facade design emphasizes simplicity, clean lines, and a high-tech aesthetic. The walls on the ground and lower floors are predominantly clad in natural stone, introducing warmth through color and texture.
Large glass panels serve as the primary facade element, allowing abundant natural light to flood the interiors while visually integrating the gardens into the building. Metal plates are utilized for awnings and wall brackets to protect and reinforce the glass, adding a sense of lightness and high-tech detail.
Sunshades not only shield the glass from intense daylight but also incorporate LED lighting at night, enhancing the facade’s visual appeal and serving as an architectural feature.
