Shenzhen Mobile Card is a publicly traded company specializing in payment technologies, headquartered in Shenzhen Kexing Science Park. JSPA Design was commissioned to renovate three floors of office space, covering a total area of 6,000 square meters. The goal was to reflect the company’s open and transparent corporate culture through an innovative design approach.

At the project’s outset, the designers aimed to remove superficial decorative layers to reveal the building’s original structural character. By exposing the rough beams and columns, and opening some floor slabs, they introduced vertical connectivity and increased natural light. This interplay of light and shadow transforms the spatial experience, emphasizing the building’s authentic architectural essence.

The main entrance is located on the middle floor and consolidates all public functions, including the reception, coffee bar, event space, and product display area. These areas are thoughtfully arranged along a long, transparent axis, creating a sense of openness and visual continuity. The elongated reception desk not only welcomes visitors but also acts as a structural element that enhances the atmosphere. Behind it, a delicate, fairy-like wall adds aesthetic appeal while subtly separating internal spaces from outside distractions.

To avoid a cramped feeling caused by low ceilings, the design introduces visual and spatial connections between the middle and third floors. Five fully transparent, suspended conference rooms float above the middle level, creating dynamic, playful spaces. This design choice reflects the company’s innovative and collaborative spirit, offering visitors an unforgettable spatial experience.

The transparent interior design fosters trust and collaboration among employees, while also showcasing the workspace to visitors. This openness transcends physical boundaries, creating engaging visual interactions that subtly embody the company’s futuristic vision.

A striking sculptural staircase serves as the vertical circulation core, designed with overlapping L-shaped elements that climb without visible support. This artistic structure adds volume and a contemporary edge to the space.

The design balances stability and a sense of floating by contrasting solid color schemes and forms with transparent architectural elements. Workstations are organized into small, independent clusters, while conference rooms and managers’ offices are enclosed within glass boxes that provide privacy without sacrificing openness and comfort.

Using modern materials like glass and stainless steel, the design explores diverse spatial textures. Concrete bricks, extending from floors to walls, add a raw, tactile quality to public areas. Thoughtful lighting enhances contrasts between smooth and rough surfaces, breaking stylistic boundaries and creating fluid, dynamic spaces. This approach also encourages new ways for people to connect and collaborate within the office environment.
