Spiritual Field
“Emerging from the mud without staining, washing the clear ripples without being demonic, straight from the center to the outside, without spreading or branching, fragrant and clear from afar, with pavilions and pure plants that can be viewed from afar without being violated. Lotus, the gentleman of flowers.” — Love Lotus Talk by Zhou Dunyi (Song Dynasty)
△ Conceptual Evolution
As material conditions improve and technology advances, the physical environment’s shortcomings have diminished. Today, the intangible qualities of the spiritual energy field have become crucial in selecting a residence.
Background
Foshan Sanshui is renowned as a city of lotus. Its favorable climate, the plains where three rivers merge, and abundant fish and rice have sustained generations. This project is a locally developed sales center. Despite numerous branded properties nearby, this development is clearly positioned as an essential choice for young people.
Therefore, creating a space that both highlights the property’s characteristics and quality while resonating with younger audiences is key. The designer draws inspiration from the local natural environment, crafting a white lotus-themed space that metaphorically reflects the property’s qualities by emphasizing the lotus’s spiritual elegance.
This approach not only supports sales but more importantly fosters a pure spiritual atmosphere within the space, encouraging emotional engagement with young visitors.

01 Construction
By shaping arcs and observing their states—gathering and dispersing—the designers explore various facets of the lotus flower. They create a pure atmosphere through different forms, eliciting emotional responses through sensory impact, striking contrasts, or sheer simplicity.

The arc shapes and pure white tones form the spatial framework, leaving a lasting impression with their gentle curves. The white curved blocks resemble lotus flowers, complemented by mud-colored floors and wooden ceilings. This combination evokes the sensation of being in a lotus pond after rain, bringing a refreshing calm.
Like the noble and upright demeanor of a gentleman, the space exudes a strong and inspiring presence.

Scattered curved walls give the space soul
The designer employs curved walls placed at irregular intervals to transform a plain area into a vivid, three-dimensional space. The fluidity between varying curves creates an engaging flow.

Warm materials evoke a homely atmosphere
Traditionally, the hall served as the central space, flanked by curved walls scattered randomly like petals drifting in the wind, each moving toward its own destination.
The massive curved walls appear to gather and disperse in a seemingly chaotic pattern. Their irregular shapes connect the entire space fluidly, organizing functional zones within this ordered disorder.
This interplay of static “petals” and dynamic “lotus” elements creates a fascinating balance of stillness and movement, enriching the spatial experience.

02 Light
Light is the soul of space. When light from two levels interconnects, it guides spatial interaction and stimulates engagement among various design elements.

△ Natural light gently filters through the grille, infusing the room with warmth
By opening floor slabs and utilizing architectural techniques, the forms between spaces are redefined, enhancing dialogue and interaction.
Openings in the sand table, water bar, and negotiation areas allow natural light to flow between the two floors, tying together space, time, and people.

The vertically extended space deepens the arc’s impression
Without barriers, sound freely travels and interacts with the second-floor model room. This highly interactive architectural design aligns with youthful characteristics and leaves a memorable experience for young homeowners.
03 Art
Rooted in regional traditional culture yet seamlessly integrated with modern fashion, the space transcends time to radiate a unique aura.

△ Installation Art
The installation abstracts the static curved petals and their gathered or scattered states from the lotus, presenting them artistically within the space. It immerses visitors among pure white petals, offering an experience beyond traditional viewing.
The beauty of curved craftsmanship combined with solid-color artistic paint and photolithography textures conveys a natural warmth. The wooden-toned ceiling and antique brick flooring add an earthy charm, evoking the concept of “emerging from the mud without staining.”
The arc also symbolizes water’s curve, and as this “curved flow” extends through space, it spreads the vitality reminiscent of a water town.

The smallpox ceiling installation reflects local culture
This hanging art piece captures colorful afterglows, reflecting regional life and culture. It evokes the joyful scene of “fishing boats loaded with boats and fishermen singing at night.” The blending lights from various spaces act like dancers, bringing morning light, sunset hues, and moonlight to the petals within the space.
The design explores and highlights the space’s unique qualities, mirroring young people’s confidence in their individuality. It respects traditional regional culture while fostering engagement with youth through thoughtful presentation and interaction.
The space speaks for itself, carrying its distinct voice.
