Project Overview
Pigeon is a globally recognized brand specializing in mother and baby products, operating subsidiaries worldwide. This project focuses on the office, research and development, and production facility of Beiqin Company located in Shanghai. We undertook comprehensive planning and renovation of both the interior and exterior of the original building, situated in Qingpu, Shanghai, China.
Since its establishment, this facility has served as Beiqin’s primary production base. Following the renovation, it will evolve into an innovation center to support future market expansion and product development efforts.
The existing building is a multi-story structure characterized by a distinctive factory appearance, featuring a simple, elongated rectangular facade. This efficient industrial base is designed with key principles in mind: production safety, human-centered design, and ecological sustainability.
Facade Design
Experience plays a vital role in corporate branding. Just as customers interact with Beiqin products, employees are also influenced by the building and spatial environment when visiting production sites daily.
Through this design, we aim for every Beiqin employee to connect emotionally with the brand’s global identity and actively contribute to the company culture.
To make a strong visual impression on visitors from the first glance, we innovatively integrated the “heart” shape from the company logo into the facade design. A perforated aluminum panel covers the exterior, with the smallest punched pattern exquisitely crafted in the shape of a heart.
From a distance, the facade appears draped in a gentle veil. Up close, each heart-shaped cutout seems to float on the surface, creating a symbolic element that blends seamlessly with the corporate culture and identity, leaving a memorable and profound impression.
Entrance Hall
The entrance canopy features soft, flowing curves that symbolize the brand’s identity and create a gentle, welcoming atmosphere. This design choice aligns with the exterior theme, inspiring visitors and communicating the corporate culture.
The reception area has been custom-designed as a multifunctional “central display space” that accommodates consultation, meetings, product showcases, digital media presentations, corporate culture exhibits, and historical narratives.
By integrating curves in three-dimensional space, a sense of warmth and softness is achieved. The rounded edges of the furniture, flowing lighting fixtures, and gradient illumination combine to form an inviting curve that complements the facade of the exhibition stand. This cohesive design aligns with Beiqin’s SI system and establishes a strong visual identity for the entire space.
All materials and colors are chosen to evoke the sensation of gently cradling a baby, avoiding any harsh edges. The soft color palette reflects the brand’s signature tones, creating a bright, open environment where visitors can experience the tender beauty of the mother and baby brand in a flowing, harmonious form.
Historical Wall Staircase Corridor
Ascending the staircase offers an immersive journey through the century-long history of this enterprise — from its founding to its ongoing legacy. This space showcases the company’s rich culture and evolution through its products.
Symbolic Architecture
The design integrates corporate culture into the building’s exterior while creating a soft, calming curved interior space. This approach delivers an emotional experience that resonates deeply, connecting with the soul.
This project aims to serve not only as a production base for future enterprise growth and communication but also as a place where employees and visitors can engage with and appreciate the Beiqin culture.
Vision
The product research and development office transcends the role of a traditional “office or production space.” It embodies crucial connections between people, products, and society — encompassing life, social responsibility, mission, craftsmanship excellence, and the enduring transmission of love.
