Cuopong National Park in Vietnam is a mountainous forest rich with diverse plant species. As part of the Vidana Resort master plan, the Vedana Restaurant is discreetly nestled at the park’s edge. The Wu Zhongyi Architectural Firm handled both the overall resort planning and the design of this building. The resort features 135 villas, 5 apartment hotels, and 8 vacation cottages, with the restaurant positioned centrally, making it a key structure within the resort. This space serves all-day dining needs and can also accommodate large-scale events such as weddings.

The building’s roof showcases a three-story circular design covering 1,050 square meters. It features two stacked circular roofs with a dome crowning the top, segmented by light strips. The space has a maximum radius of 18 meters and a structural height of approximately 16 meters, making it the tallest bamboo structure Wu Zhongyi Architectural Firm has constructed to date. Inspired by traditional Vietnamese architecture, the stepped roof is composed of 36 modular frames, creating the illusion of a multi-story building despite being a single-floor space.

The restaurant enjoys a prime location adjacent to an artificial lake, which acts as a natural air conditioner. This feature is especially important given the hot and humid summers typical of Tsong’ong and northern Vietnam, making the lake an essential element in regulating the climate.

In addition, this lake serves as a large reservoir for collecting rainwater and groundwater from the surrounding mountains. It irrigates the resort’s 16.4 hectares of land, including approximately 15,000 flowering trees, as part of the resort’s long-term landscaping plan. With this in mind, the restaurant was designed to sit amid the flourishing forest. Every angle of the building offers panoramic views of the surrounding scenery. Even from the dome’s center, visitors can enjoy sights of blooming flowers, lush forests, and clear lakes scattered across the mountainous landscape.

The restaurant’s open design allows its interior to seamlessly transition into a semi-outdoor space, enhancing the spatial experience for visitors. Guests can enjoy both the comfort of the bamboo interior and the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains, forests, and lakes.
