BIM Q&A: How Stairs Are Automatically Generated in BIM

BIM Q&A | How BIM Automatically Generates Stairs

The process begins by selecting the staircase command and choosing the desired shape, whether curved or straight. You can control the drawing method using contour lines, control lines, or centerlines.

Next, set the relevant stair step information in the property settings. In the drawing window, you can either control the centerline or specify the control method, defining the elevation range—from the current elevation up to the preset elevation—to complete the staircase drawing.

Alternatively, BIM can automatically generate the number of steps based on elevation differences without manually controlling the step count.
