Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an engineering data model based on 3D digital technology. As an emerging skill, BIM is in growing demand within the workforce and is becoming a significant focus in China’s employment landscape.
In response to this trend, the Chinese Society of Cartography actively conducts BIM skill level training and evaluation programs to better serve society. To establish a scientific and standardized framework for these training programs, the National BIM Skill Level Evaluation Guidance Committee has collaborated with domestic experts to develop the “BIM Skill Level Evaluation Outline.”
BIM Exam Overview
The National Computer Information High-tech Examination is a nationwide test designed for new professions in computer and information technology. It is organized by the Vocational Skills Appraisal Center under the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, following the guidelines outlined in the Ministry’s Notice No. 19 on Computer Information High-tech Training and Assessment.
Further clarified in Document No. 18 issued by the Labor and Social Security Administration, this exam is an integral component of China’s national vocational appraisal system and vocational qualification certification framework. The exam assesses the practical operational skills of professionals across the computer and information technology fields.
The primary goal of the exam is to promote the rapid adoption and application of high-tech solutions in China. It is demand-driven and application-oriented, focusing on relevant devices and software. Candidates are tested through standardized assignments to enhance their operational proficiency and efficiency in using advanced technology.
Passing the exam grants a certificate that serves as a standardized credential verifying skill level and competency. This certificate facilitates employment and talent exchange for professionals working with computer information high-tech applications. It aligns China’s labor resource allocation with the needs of scientific progress and the socialist market economy.
According to Document No. 63 from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security’s Vocational Capacity Building Department and the Vocational Skills Appraisal Center, individuals who pass the exam receive a qualification certificate issued by the Vocational Skills Appraisal Center. This certificate acts as a vocational qualification reflecting computer operation skills and is recognized as a job credential for positions requiring such skills. It also serves as proof of computer operation ability in other employment and vocational evaluation contexts.
Those who obtain operator and senior operator qualifications through this exam are regarded as possessing intermediate and senior technical levels, respectively, within the People’s Republic of China. Their usage and benefits are governed by corresponding regulations.
