BIM Q&A | Where to Obtain a BIM Modeler Certificate
The certification is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Its goal is to identify qualified professionals and skilled talents to advance building information technology, enhance the use of IT in the construction industry, foster technological innovation, and support the sector’s transformation and upgrading.
By fully leveraging modern information technology, the certification aims to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, ensure quality, and enable effective information sharing, transmission, collaboration, and decision-making throughout the entire lifecycle of engineering projects. This includes planning and design, construction management, material procurement, operation, and maintenance.
The certification assesses the ability to use BIM modeling software to create various models and related information generated during building design and construction. These include two-dimensional engineering drawings, three-dimensional geometric models, and other graphical documents used for engineering design, construction, and future applications.
Through mastery of BIM professional application software, candidates demonstrate comprehensive BIM technology skills. The certification is divided into three levels:
- Level 1: BIM Strategic Planner
- Level 2: BIM Project Manager
- Level 3: BIM Modeler
Passing the Level 1 exam awards the BIM Strategic Planner certificate; Level 2 leads to the BIM Project Manager certificate; and Level 3 grants the BIM Modeler certificate. The exams are scheduled for the second weekend of December each year.
