BIM Q&A | Recommended Mobile BIM Model Browsing Software
Are you still using Revit and Navisworks to browse BIM models? It’s time to switch! BIM 3D model viewing has long moved from desktop applications like Revit and Navisworks to mobile devices.
From my experience, there are at least four apps capable of this function: E-building from Beijing Yizhu, Xiezhu from Guanglian Da in Xi’an, Shaanxi, and CCBIM from Pinming in Hangzhou. Let’s compare these products using three representative models:
- A 30-story concrete structure building
- A substation, which includes an office building and a steel structure factory building
- A common water and electricity pipe diagram
Based on the comparison, E-building stands out with the shortest loading and conversion times while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of model components. This significantly reduces user waiting time, minimizes delays caused by model conversion and loading, and enhances the overall user experience.
However, E-building does have some limitations. For example, it currently does not support uploading models directly from mobile devices, nor does it support viewing file formats such as 3ds and SKP.
Of course, these points cover only a portion of the extensive data and functionality offered by these apps.
