BIM Q&A | How to Install Revit 2017
There are significant changes in the installation process of Autodesk Revit 2017 compared to earlier versions of the Autodesk 2017 product series.
In previous versions, you had to enter the serial number and product key during installation to register your machine. However, starting with 2017, the installation does not require entering any registration information. Instead, you enter the universal serial number and key during the activation process after installation is complete.

Follow these steps to install and activate Revit 2017:
1. Launch Autodesk Revit 2017.
2. Select the option to enter the serial number.
3. Agree to the license terms by selecting ‘I agree’.
4. Choose the activation option.
5. Enter the serial number and key. If it prompts as invalid, click close.
6. Re-enter the serial number and key.
7. You should now receive an activation code.
8. Right-click the registration tool and select ‘Run as administrator’.
9. Click the patch button.
10. Copy the application code into the first text box.
