BIM Q&A | How I Used Revit and Custom Families to Transfer a Model Between Computers

BIM Q&A | Using Revit to Build and Transfer Models with Custom Families

When I create a model in Revit, I use my own custom families. However, after copying the model to another computer, these families become the system default families on that machine. Have you encountered this issue, where your custom families replace or become the default system families after transferring the model? What steps should I take to resolve this?

To address this, try modifying your custom family by personalizing both its name and family type. This can help prevent it from being mistaken for a default system family when transferring between computers.
