BIM Q&A | Comparing the Advantages and Disadvantages of Revit and ArchiCAD: What Does the Future Hold in the Construction Industry?
In China, Revit is currently more widely promoted than ArchiCAD, largely due to its extensive and complex capabilities. ArchiCAD, on the other hand, was specifically developed with architects in mind. It offers a more refined user experience that aligns closely with architects’ workflows.
When it comes to handling complex shapes and integrating with parametric design software, Revit has a slight edge. However, ArchiCAD is rapidly catching up, offering plugins that enable almost seamless integration with popular tools like Rhino and SketchUp.
Regarding future prospects, Revit has become almost synonymous with BIM in China, which means ArchiCAD needs stronger support from industry players to expand its market share. Personally, I have a slight preference for ArchiCAD due to its architect-friendly approach.
