BIM Q&A | How to Draw a Fan-Shaped Spiral Staircase with Revit
1. Start by drawing a circle. Then, draw two rays originating from the center of this circle. Use these rays as cutting edges to trim the shape of the stair tread.
2. Next, create another circle centered at the same point. This circle’s radius should match the inner radius of the ring formed by the upper circle. This new circle will serve as the support (projection) for the staircase.
3. Use the “Region” command to convert both the trimmed tread shape from step 1 and the circles from step 2 into regions. This will give you two distinct areas.
4. Apply a circular array to the tread surface area, then adjust each tread’s position upward incrementally by increasing the Z value, forming the spiral staircase layout.
5. Stretch the circular region vertically to create the supporting pillars.
6. Finally, use the “Union” command to merge all the treads and pillars into a single, unified model.
