BIM Q&A | How to Render Trees with Navisworks
Here’s how to display the Navisworks rendering window, which is useful when creating renderings or visualizations. Please note that RPC objects only appear in full rendering mode, and the scale of the RPC relative to the model should be adjusted for optimal results.
Follow these steps to add RPC content to your model:
- Open the Navisworks application and import your file.
- Navigate to the Viewpoint tab. In the Rendering Style panel, select Mode – Full Rendering. For versions 2010 and earlier, click the Fully Render button located on the rendering style toolbar.
- Open the Presenter window and switch to the RPC tab.
- In the left panel, select the Standard category. Choose an RPC character or tree, then drag it to the right panel.
- Double-click the RPC item in the right panel to open the RPC editor.
- In the RPC editor, click the browse button next to the file name field.
- Select an existing RPC instance, or choose one provided by Navisworks. For example, you can pick any RPC from the installation directory, typically found at:
C:Program FilesAutodeskNavisworks Manage2011presenterladslayla_datatexturesRPC. Click OK to confirm. - Right-click the RPC icon in the right panel and select Add Instance from the context menu.
- Click on the desired location within your model where you want to place the RPC. The RPC object will then appear in your model.
