BIM Q&A | How to Export ArchiCAD Files in DWG Format?
1. Methods:
1) Open the DWG file directly in ArchiCAD and save it as an ArchiCAD file.
Step-by-step:
File > Open > Open
In the Open File window, select *.dwg from the file type dropdown, then choose the DWG file you want to open.
2) Use ArchiCAD’s built-in conversion tool to import DWG files and save them as ArchiCAD files.
Step-by-step:
File > File Special > Merge
In the Merge File window, select *.dwg from the file type dropdown, locate the DWG file you want to import, and merge it into ArchiCAD.
2. Practical CAD Tips:
1) When drawing a straight line, you may find it too long or too short. Simply click the line to reveal three small blue grips. Hover over either end grip, then click and drag it to lengthen or shorten the line.
2) After completing a command, you can quickly repeat it by right-clicking or pressing Enter. For example, after drawing a rectangle, right-click or press Enter to immediately start drawing another rectangle.
3) If the drawing cannot be zoomed in or out any further, type the shortcut RE to regenerate the display.
4) Memorizing common shortcut commands greatly improves efficiency. For instance, use L for lines and C for circles. Make a habit of learning and applying these shortcuts in your daily work.
