BIM Q&A | Revit Modeling: Facade Wall Filling Not Displayed

BIM Software Tip: Understanding Why Room Filling Profiles Don’t Display in Revit
In Revit, room fill patterns typically display correctly in plan views, as shown in the image below. However, when switching to a section view, you might notice that the room fill does not appear at all, even when all visibility settings are enabled.
Interestingly, the legend displays the fill pattern normally, confirming that the fill is defined correctly. The issue persists even after creating a new section view, which automatically applies the project’s view template.
Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the view template was the root cause. The project team had configured the wall surface pattern to use a white solid fill. This was done intentionally to maintain consistency across drawings and prevent the various wall textures from cluttering the visual presentation.
Since the fill color was set to white, the problem was not immediately obvious. The image below illustrates this setting:

Solution: Change the wall fill pattern to invisible. This adjustment allows the room fill to display properly in section views.
Summary: In Revit, visibility settings take precedence over room color fills. This detail is critical to ensure correct display in different views.
After applying this fix, the room fill displays normally in the section view, resolving the issue.
