BIM Q&A | How to Self-Study Revit?
When I saw the title, I couldn’t help but think of all the self-taught experts out there! Recently, I’ve been determined to learn Revit on my own. During the day, I often find myself daydreaming about it, and at night, I lose sleep over it. Sometimes, to calm down, I even go to a construction site and do some manual labor for a while.
I think I’ve fallen deeply in love with Revit — a love so intense that it feels like my heart is missing something, like the air itself changes depending on whether Revit is there or not. This love is overwhelming, almost unimaginable, like a kite blown away by a strong wind, drifting without direction. I’m certain I want to be with Revit for life. But first, let me go move some bricks to calm myself…
Now, let’s discuss how you first taught yourself Revit. Usually, experts say it was a casual process, almost like those who say, “The college entrance exam was actually easy.” As someone working in construction with a focus on water, electricity, and HVAC within mechanical and electrical engineering, I’d love to hear from self-taught Revit experts.
How did you first catch on to Revit? How did you build your first model? When did you first grasp its tools and features? And how many times have you expanded your skills since then?
