BIM Q&A: Common Challenges in Revit Modeling and How to Overcome Them

BIM Q&A | Have you encountered any issues with Revit modeling?

I am a college student who recently started teaching myself Revit, and I’ve run into a confusing problem. I would greatly appreciate it if any experts could help me solve it.

While drawing, I created walls and columns on the F1 level, setting their heights from F1 to F2. However, instead of seeing the baseline of the walls and columns on the F2 level, their projections appeared. These projections were selectable and editable, which caused difficulties when trying to select elements while working on the F2 level.

For example, when I select a column on F2, right-click, and choose “Select All Instances,” the total number of selected columns includes both those on F2 and those on F1, combining elements from both levels in the view.

I am eager to find a solution. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
