BIM Q&A: How to Model Pipeline Supports and Hangers in Revit MEP?

BIM Q&A | How to Draw Pipeline Supports and Hangers in Revit MEP?
Recently, our company has been actively promoting BIM technology. However, the focus has primarily been on building construction, with relatively little attention given to installation work. During the modeling process, we noticed that Revit MEP lacks built-in pipeline supports and hangers. We have also explored various websites for solutions related to supports and hangers.

Currently, there are two main approaches: one is to find suitable plugins, and the other is to create custom families. Despite extensive searching, I have yet to find a reliable plugin or a method to develop a family that can automatically adjust and arrange supports and hangers according to the pipeline size.

I would like to ask two questions here:

  1. What are some effective plugins available for this purpose? I am open to both paid and free options.
  2. Is it possible for custom families to fully support automatic placement of supports and hangers, adapting dynamically to changes in the pipelines?
  3. For projects with minimal construction content, what are the key applications of BIM technology in installation engineering?
