BIM Q&A | A Step-by-Step Guide to Learning CATIA Efficiently

BIM Q&A | How to Learn CATIA Systematically?
I work for an automotive parts company that primarily uses Creo software for design and organization. Last year, during a factory audit by a well-known German automotive group, they requested that we switch to designing with CATIA. Naturally, I wanted to learn this software. However, when I searched online, I found numerous videos, but the resources were scattered and lacked the systematic structure that platforms like Wuwei Net provide for ProE or Creo tutorials. This has been a challenge for me. Thank you for your attention.

I realize now that I might not have explained myself clearly. It’s partly because I didn’t fully understand how many modules CATIA includes. What I’m really asking is how to learn CATIA efficiently without spending too much time just figuring out where to start. I’m looking for a structured learning path—something I can follow step-by-step during my spare time, similar to the comprehensive tutorials available for Wuwei Net. While I know there are countless videos online, they lack a cohesive system, which is frustrating for someone like me who prefers organized learning. It always feels like something important is missing.

To clarify, our company focuses on automotive parts. Typically, the car manufacturer sends us 3D data, as do other suppliers. Our role is to “tailor” the design parts based on the provided data. Sometimes, we simply assemble mature products with minor modifications and send the updated data back for approval. After receiving customer feedback—ranging from one week to several years—we continue to refine the design until it is finalized and ready for mold making.

Currently, we use Creo for assembly, modeling, and drafting. However, our German clients have pointed out that our design process is not systematic and lacks CAE analysis. They hope we can adopt CATIA software to improve these areas. This brings me back to my original question: With CATIA’s many modules, which ones are most relevant to meet our needs? Are there comprehensive tutorials or resources—whether books or videos—that cover these modules systematically?

I apologize for the lengthy explanation, but I wanted to provide enough context to avoid confusion. Thank you again for your help.
