This project is a spatial integration of three floors, the roof, and the surrounding landscape. The building’s interior is equipped with efficient ventilation and smoke evacuation systems, providing parking for up to 500 vehicles. Located within a historic district, the site lies between the city wall and the adjacent square.

The neighborhood, especially the buildings at the intersection of Camões Street and Caldeiroa Street, along with the geographical features of Ribeiro de Couros, showcases an urban style distinctly different from the industrial architecture of the early 20th century.
Typically, the approach involves integrating and reinterpreting historical values, vocabulary, and ideas to create a design that aligns with contemporary aesthetics and values. In this project, the architect implemented interventions on three levels, carefully distinguishing between two main areas that required urgent restoration and renewal to meet future sustainable development needs.

Beyond restoration, a crucial principle was to allocate ample space for future growth and establish a strong foundation. To achieve this, the architect designed a new pedestrian walkway and upgraded the existing road system to ensure smooth and logical circulation.

The garage’s facade was also upgraded, using weather-resistant steel grilles to enhance its presence. This design choice maintains a consistent aesthetic in relation to the surrounding traditional industrial buildings, while incorporating sustainable design principles and fulfilling functional requirements.

The architects aimed to design a space that naturally belongs in its setting, rather than imposing a strong sense of intervention. This approach allows the local community to quickly embrace and integrate the venue into their daily lives.
