Following the completion of the Atacama Desert Museum, the open-air theater was developed as the park’s second major project, emphasizing the significance of the site, which is the true highlight of the region.
The theater continues the design philosophy of the Desert Museum, where the stage is not viewed as a conventional building but as an extension emerging naturally from the earth. It utilizes the open-air coastal plaza as a vantage point, offering visitors breathtaking views of the ruins and the sea, creating a dreamlike and unique atmosphere.

The outdoor seating is carefully positioned to face the ruins at an optimal angle, allowing visitors an unobstructed view of the entire historic site. From the upper terrace, guests can enjoy panoramic 360-degree vistas of the surrounding landscape.

The grandstand offers versatile space for various events and art exhibitions while providing visitors with stunning, uninterrupted views of the site.
Designed to take full advantage of the natural terrain, the stage’s elevated height serves as a buffer, separating Angamos Street from the open-air theater. The strategic placement of the outdoor seating transforms the theater into a prominent landmark within the area’s landscape.

The open-air theater is constructed as a raw concrete structure, rising 20 meters above ground with a cantilevered section extending 5 meters. The platform beneath the suspended stage serves as the performance area, fully equipped with all necessary technical facilities for a variety of events.

This project embodies a philosophy of respecting the local environment and historical heritage by creating a clean, minimalist structure without unnecessary ornamentation. It seamlessly blends with the natural landscape through a restrained and thoughtful approach.
