The West Brabant River waterline serves as a historic defensive line, featuring a series of bunkers and cities located in flooded regions in the southwest of the Netherlands. Originating in the 17th century, this defense line fell into decline by the 19th century. Recently, restoration efforts have revived the area, creating a need for a practical bridge structure. To meet this need, designers developed a unique and innovative bridge.

Placing a bridge above trenches and defensive fortifications would have been a strategic mistake, as it would allow the enemy to easily control the area. To avoid this, the designers created an invisible bridge built entirely from waterproof wood, deeply embedded within the trench. This design allows the bridge to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

From a distance, the bridge appears to vanish entirely. Crossing it feels like walking through water that has been parted, reminiscent of mythological tales, yet the water flow beneath remains uninterrupted and continuous.
