Including Additional Files in Revit Deployment
When creating a Revit deployment, you can specify extra files to be included in the software installation package.
For example, you can:
- Distribute custom shortcut keys by placing
KeyboardShortcuts.xmlin the following directory:C:ProgramDataAutodeskUserDataCache - Include script files as part of the deployment
- Add user files of any format to specified folders on the target computer
- Add subfolders within the installation directory
- Place sample files alongside program files
- Add files directly to the installation root directory
- For Revit Server deployments, specify the
RSN.inifile to list available Revit Server Hosts for the target machine - Replace default factory files with your customized versions
Note: To replace a file, include a personal version with the exact same name in the appropriate installation folder.
Before creating the deployment package, ensure that all files to be added are prepared and stored in a location accessible from the computer used to create the deployment.
During deployment creation, navigate to the Revit installation program’s Create Expand > Configure <expand Name> page and specify these additional files under the Other Files section. For detailed instructions, please refer to the guide on creating custom Revit expansions.
Important: To include extensions, add-ons, or other applications in the deployment, use the Include Other Software option. To add custom Revit.ini files or project templates, use the Customize Application Settings under Options.
How to Add Files to the Deployment Package:
On the Configure <expand Name> page, click the arrow next to the Revit product name to expand configuration settings.
Scroll down to the Other Files section.
To add files:

Note: If a file added to the installation folder shares the same name as an existing factory-configured file, your personal version will replace the default one.
