What is the difference between Revit conduit without accessories and conduit with accessories? In Revit, conduit and cable tray components are categorized into two types by default: with accessories and without accessories. You might wonder, what exactly sets these two apart? Does a conduit without accessories mean that connectors cannot be assigned to it?
Actually, a conduit without accessories refers to a setup where the conduit and its accessories are combined as a single continuous element, rather than being separated. In this case, all accessories are considered part of the conduit itself, forming one integrated unit.
Revit introduces the concept of a Pipeline, which represents the entire assembly made up of straight sections, bends, and tees connected together. This Pipeline is not a physical entity on its own; it only exists when using wire conduit without accessories or cable tray without accessories.
What are the benefits of using pipelines? They allow you to generate detailed schedules and calculate the total length of outlet pipes and elbows. This functionality is unique to pipelines, as traditional schedules do not count elbow lengths separately from straight pipe segments. When creating a schedule, simply select the line conduit category to take advantage of this feature.
