How to Draw Diagonal Beams in Revit: A Step-by-Step Guide

Techniques for Drawing Diagonal Beams in Revit

During the design process, there are instances where beams need to be placed at an angle rather than upright. Below are some effective methods for drawing diagonal beams in Revit.

Method 1: Rotate the beam so it is orthogonal to the floor, as illustrated in the image.

Select the beam, then adjust the rotation angle of its cross-section in the properties panel. Set the rotation angle to match the angle between the floor and the horizontal plane. This angle can be positive or negative, depending on the beam orientation, as shown below.

Method 2: Modify the start and end point coordinates of an existing beam to create a diagonal beam. For example, apply an offset of 1000mm at one end, as demonstrated in the image.
