Project Introduction
Aoyuan · Feicui Lan Du is situated in the heart of Pingtan Lan City, Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Spanning 6,196 acres around Zhuyu Lake, the project is surrounded by four major parks, offering beautiful natural scenery and a serene environment. Conveniently connected to a prime main road, it benefits from multi-dimensional transportation access. The development centers around Zhuyu Lake and is adjacent to the city’s central business district, aiming to provide an exceptional living environment for the residents of Pingtan.

Design Philosophy
The design draws inspiration from Confucian ideals, emphasizing harmony between family and nature. It incorporates a traditional Chinese-style courtyard layout, enhanced by architectural line language and elegant curved cuts. The design reflects the surrounding cultural atmosphere and offers a six-fold spatial experience: “viewing the mountains, listening to the springs, embracing bamboo, spacious courtyards, star pools, and backyards.” This creates a progressive modern Eastern ceremonial space—a peaceful urban retreat that embodies refined courtyard living with contemporary concepts.

Confucian Ritual Sequence
The site is organized into three main sections: the front courtyard landscape, an L-shaped main building, and the rear courtyard, creating an open and modern Chinese-style courtyard. Traditional features such as corridors and walkways are integrated, giving the entire structure an elegant atmosphere grounded in Confucian ritual order.

Upon entering the courtyard, visitors encounter the scenic views of “overlooking the mountains” and “listening to the springs.” The expansive green landscape mirrors the tranquil blue waves of the lake, evoking the image of a mountain and water mansion. A winding stone pathway connects the architecture with nature, where dappled sunlight filters through the trees and gentle breezes ripple the water, creating a peaceful and immersive experience that offers an escape from city life.

The main building features a sleek, simple L-shaped form with a white exterior. Large perforated aluminum panels create a dynamic interplay of solid and void, light and shadow. The use of ultra-white glass enhances the lightness and modernity of the structure. By incorporating the traditional technique of borrowing scenery, the façade reflects the surrounding natural landscape, seamlessly blending architecture and nature to express a modern Eastern aesthetic of harmony.

The entrance area showcases a three-dimensional geometric design, combining simplicity and elegance. Wooden accents are paired with metal frames, evoking warmth and humanistic values alongside a refined, determined spirit.

Under warm lighting, the cool and solemn metal installations gleam brightly. These modern metal elements complement the traditional winding pathways, bridging past and future. The extensive use of metalwork reflects exquisite modern aesthetics, allowing visitors to experience a contemporary sense of ritual within a traditional layout.

Eternal Elegance and Charm
The traditional courtyard layout emphasizes a rhythm of compression and release, with winding paths that lead to intimate spaces before suddenly opening up. Surrounding the spiritual and refined interior are expansive ink wash landscape murals, evoking Oriental elegance amidst the interplay of blue waves and light. This design reflects the spirit of the mountains and the poetry of water, conveying a deep cultural heritage through spatial experience.

The staircase features a semi-enclosed design that adds spatial richness and highlights the building’s layered form through three-dimensional deconstruction. The flowing lines introduce softness amid the winding order. In heavy rain, deer appear; in deep clouds, the forest hides them—wandering between reality and illusion. A gentle breeze occasionally brushes the face, evoking a sense of being immersed in mountain forests, far from noise, finding inner peace. From a distance, the “Star Pool” glistens like a mirror, reflecting brilliant starlight amid the interplay of light and shadow.

Architecture serves as a reflection of its era and embodies humanistic values. Aoyuan · Feicuilan combines traditional layouts with modern design to express a poetic vision of life within the urban landscape.
