How to Restore Default Revit Shortcut Keys
We often customize software shortcut keys to fit our personal workflow during modeling. But what if you want to revert these changes back to the default settings? Let’s walk through the process step by step.
First, you need the default shortcut key definition file for Revit. You can either copy this file from another computer where Revit is installed or find it online.
Where exactly is this located? Click the Application button, then select Options to open the Options dialog box.
Within the Options dialog box, under the User Interface section, click on Shortcut Keys: Customize. This opens the Shortcut Keys dialog box.
As shown below, in the bottom left corner of the dialog box, you will see two commands: Import and Export. These are the tools you will use. Start by clicking Export.
The software will automatically open a Save As dialog box. Choose the folder where you want to save the shortcut key file, set the destination, and click Save.
At this point, you have exported the shortcut key file from your Revit software.
Next, use the same method to import this file back into the software to restore the shortcut keys.
However, this time, in the Shortcut Keys dialog box, select Import.
Locate and select the shortcut key file you exported earlier, then click Open to apply it.
