This expansive composite residence is situated in the traditional villa district of Hanspaulka, built on a sloping site surrounded by historic garden parks. Both the garden and the panoramic skyline of Prague serve as the primary inspirations for this design.
The structure’s minimalist abstraction emerges through the creative stacking of five distinct blocks, each representing a floor of the building.

The entrance and garage, extending to the lowest level of the granite-covered courtyard, are fully integrated into the terrace. The second floor plan is partially embedded as well.
The ground floor covers the largest area and acts as the building’s foundation. Above this, the main living area is enveloped in glass, allowing abundant natural light and offering views framed by large surrounding trees.
Two internal corridors connect this central living space to the floors below and above, creating an open, interconnected environment.

The atrium, situated on the expansive terrace behind the house, continues the theme of visual connectivity, linking to the fourth floor above. This central space, fully glazed, features sculptural floating blocks reminiscent of the semi-embedded second floor below.
Two large blocks with symmetrical proportions and horizontal corner windows serve as open living areas, enclosed only by independent glass panels to the exterior.

The building’s horizontal emphasis is enhanced by the use of irregularly jointed brick facades. At the highest point, the rooftop terrace features a small upper structure fully glazed, offering a commanding presence and surrounded by a rooftop garden filled with perennial plants.
The concise geometric design and the layered arrangement of solid and hollow blocks embedded into the sloping site underline the architectural character of this five-story mansion.

The house doesn’t merely sit within the garden — it is embraced and penetrated by it. The social space between the street and the garden at the front of the house pays homage to the French geometric style, characterized by horizontal stripes planted with perennial herbs and boxwood trees.
Behind a hedge shaded by yew trees lies a private garden designed in the naturalistic English park style.
