Da Hop Kindergarten is situated in the mountainous region of Hoa Binh Province, northern Vietnam. The architecture seamlessly blends with the local culture, nature, and community. The entire school radiates energy and features a variety of engaging spaces. From their classrooms, students have breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and are encouraged to freely explore and experience fascinating adventures on their way to school, enhancing their joy and curiosity.
Creating an environment where children learn while having fun is a top priority. The design emphasizes dynamism by rhythmically nesting the building blocks together and connecting them via bridges and corridors. This layout ensures safety and convenience for children’s movement throughout the school.
The school incorporates numerous shared spaces such as practice classrooms, skill-building rooms, theaters, four-season swimming pools, indoor and outdoor sports fields, and water gardens. These areas are interwoven with playgrounds and grassy fields to support the holistic development of the children.
The building’s north-south axis enhances ventilation and natural lighting. It features a vibrant ecological roof with sound and thermal insulation, complemented by drainage channels that support the watering of plants in the school courtyard. To improve indoor comfort, a sunshade layer covers the main southern facade; balconies on the west and northwest sides effectively shield from sunlight and wind. Additionally, the use of unburned bricks reduces heat transfer, increases sound absorption, and minimizes noise disturbance.
The architects and owners share a vision of creating a nurturing and comfortable environment for children’s growth. Growing up in a familiar, friendly setting allows children to form “gradual memories” that become deeply rooted in their hearts as they journey to school, fostering a genuine love for their hometown and cultivating beautiful, caring spirits.
