River House is a five-bedroom residence situated in Pererenán, Bali. The private living spaces are arranged as three-dimensional blocks that appear to hover above the living room and garden. A large reflecting pool dramatically extends toward the neighboring rice fields, creating a striking visual contrast with the horizontal structure.

One of our core design principles was to seamlessly bring Bali’s stunning natural surroundings into the interior. For River House, we incorporated the existing terrain into the architecture to create an immersive three-dimensional experience.

The house is interwoven with various channels, corridors, and open spaces. We used recycled wood and locally sourced sandstone for surfaces and textures, evoking a timeless sense of solidity while drawing inspiration from Bali’s traditional architectural culture.

Surrounded by palm groves, banana trees, and bodhi trees, the house blends naturally into the rolling hills and lush rice fields. Wooden lattices on the side and front facades abstract the building’s form, moving away from traditional window designs. The bedrooms are thoughtfully arranged, and the natural stone finishes create serene spaces for rest and relaxation.

The bedrooms on the upper floor offer stunning views of the sunset through the coconut trees. Circulation paths run through semi-outdoor spaces, providing unexpected vistas and a unique atmosphere. At the top of the house, a spacious rooftop garden is accessible via an atrium illuminated by a large skylight.
