Fat Cat Chinese Restaurant / Fragrant Rice in Late Autumn, a Hundred Acres of Flat Field
Rice, soil, and sweat shed during cultivation—this is the purest breath of the fields and countryside.
Fat Cat Chinese Restaurant, Shanghai Juyuan Branch, continues its brand concept by embracing authenticity and nature, while integrating contemporary aesthetic sensibilities.
The result is a refined yet rustic dining atmosphere that invites guests to experience the essence of the countryside.
In the fields during May, while the wheat ripens under the clear wind, the eaves are lined with ropes and the sound of passing cars can be heard.

The dishes at Fat Cat are inspired by the fields and countryside, carrying warmth, simplicity, and pure memories of the land.
This essence is delicately woven into the spatial emotions and reflected throughout the restaurant’s design.

Dark mulberry branches intertwine in the village, while forest persimmons multiply in vibrant red.
The countryside is filled with water, rice leaves are neatly arranged, sunlight filters through the trees, and morning mist lingers low.

The dimly lit passage resembles a country path, guiding diners from the bright fields into a peaceful and tranquil rural village.

The dynamic character of the space is expressed through its unique emotional memory.
Materials such as brass, corrugated glass, and marble are used extensively, combining thick, heavy textures with a soft and warm aesthetic.

The peach and plum blossoms on the mountainside, along with fireworks in the clouds, belong to the people.
These emotions evoke memories of the countryside and the fields.

In terms of spatial layout, the design adopts a ‘big picture from small details’ approach.
Interest is reflected in every corner, echoing the field scenery and easily evoking warm rural memories among diners.

Curved windows of varying shapes and sizes add a designer’s playful touch, resembling red persimmons or layered waves of wheat, unintentionally capturing the essence of rural life.

The value of the Fat Cat brand lies in its dedication to preserving the original flavors of ingredients.
We hope diners will slow down in this space, savoring and truly enjoying the pure pleasure that food brings.
