How to Add Decorative Strips to Walls in Revit
When modifying the structure of a vertical composite wall, use the Decorative Strip tool to control the placement and appearance of wall decorative strips.
Before proceeding, open the Edit Components dialog box for the wall type. For detailed instructions, please refer to Accessing the Vertical Composite Wall Tool.
When defining the wall’s shape, sweeps add materials to the wall.
Adding Wall Decorative Strips to Wall Types
Within the Edit Components dialog box, click on Wall Decorative Strips.
Then, in the Wall Decorative Strip dialog box, click Add.
In the Outline column, select a contour from the dropdown list.
Specify the material for the decorative strip.
Choose whether the strip is positioned from the top or bottom of the wall. Under From, set the distance from the selected edge.
Designate the wall edge as either Interior or Exterior.
If needed, specify an Offset value. Note that negative values move the decorative strip towards the wall core.
Select Flip to measure the distance from the top of the trim outline instead of the bottom.
Under Received, specify the distance to recess the decorative strip around attachments such as windows and doors.
If you want the decorative strip to cut geometric shapes out of the main wall, check Cut the Wall.
When offset and embedded, the strip will cut into the wall. For complex models with many trims, unchecking this option may improve performance.
To allow the decorative strip to be cut by inserted objects in the wall, select Can be Cut.
Click OK to apply the settings.
