This project sets a new benchmark for capsule hotels. Originating in Japan, capsule hotels have traditionally focused on providing affordable accommodation, often at the expense of comfort. Our design reimagines this concept, aiming to completely transform the conventional image of capsule hotels by delivering a rich and functional living experience.

Our design focuses on enhancing the ‘wet spaces’—areas such as showers and washrooms—to create a more relaxing environment during rest periods, including the time between showering and sleeping, or preparing to go out. Previously scattered throughout the hotel, storage cabinets, washing zones, shower areas, and restrooms are now seamlessly connected in a continuous sequence. This integration extends to the rest area, resulting in a spacious, combined “bathroom lounge” that promotes comfort and ease.

Additionally, we have redefined the four stages of the capsule hotel experience into four distinct zones: the “Reception Area,” the “Preface Corridor,” the “Bathroom Lounge,” and the “Sleeping Cabin.” By carefully selecting colors, materials, and lighting tailored to each function, we have created a hotel that is not only practical but also offers a rich and immersive guest experience—from a warm welcome and excitement to relaxation and the ultimate sleeping environment.
