How to Use Revit Massing to Draw Water Towers
To begin, create a New Conceptual Mass. A dialog box will appear—select Metric Mass and open it to enter the plan view. Next, navigate to the Project Browser and select Elevation > South Elevation. Here, draw four horizontal Reference Planes according to the South Elevation dimensions from the original drawing: 2000 mm, 16300 mm, 1200 mm, and 29500 mm, respectively, as illustrated below:
Use the Create Options Bar under the Draw tab to outline a rectangular pedestal. Then, switch to the Shape tab and select Create Shape to form a Solid Shape. Apply the same method to draw circular columns and smaller circular columns, as shown:
Next, outline the staircase on the south facade using the cross-sectional dimensions. Once the outline is complete, create it as a solid shape, as depicted in the figure:
Afterwards, draw six vertical reference planes based on the South Elevation at the following distances: 1000 mm, 4000 mm, 500 mm, 2000 mm, and 500 mm, as demonstrated:
Using the Rectangle tool in the Draw tab, create a circular outline. Then, proceed to draw the outlines of a 12-sided bounding polygon, a large circle, a small rectangle, and the tower corner outline as shown below:
