When choosing lifting equipment, several key principles must be considered:
1. The crane must handle the maximum lifting requirements for the most distant and complex components.
2. It must accommodate the lifting height needed for the tallest components.
3. The crane’s boom radius should cover the entire building site.
The selection process begins with analyzing the structure, creating sectional drawings that indicate the weight (Q) of major components and the required lifting radius (R) for each. Using this data, the crane’s performance specifications—lifting capacity, height, and radius—are checked to ensure they meet the project’s needs, as illustrated in the diagram below.
