Quickly Applying Materials to Specific Parts in Cinema 4D

How to Quickly Apply Materials to Specific Parts in Cinema 4D (C4D)?

First, create an extruded object with rounded corners and caps, then perform a C drop. You will notice separate objects under the extrusion: Smooth 1.2 (rounded corners) and Cap 1.2.

The polygon selection label for the first smooth area is named R1,

while the second smooth area has a polygon selection label named R2.

The caps are labeled as C1 and C2.

Next, apply a material tag to the extruded object, then assign a polygon selection label to each material tag’s selection field. This ensures that the material only affects the selected area.

These selection tags existed even before you performed the C drop. To demonstrate, create an extruded object with rounded corners and a chamfered object.

Apply materials to the object, then input R1, R2, C1, and C2 into the selection fields of the respective material tags. You will see that the materials are applied precisely to their corresponding areas.
