Autodesk® Revit® 2019 IFC update includes the latest enhancements to the default IFC import and export functionality, developed by Autodesk and our open-source contributors.
About this version
Version 19.1.0, June 29, 2018
General Improvements
- Some element naming conventions have been updated. If this causes any issues, please discuss them in the forum.
- This version primarily focuses on bug fixes and introduces new Link IFC features.
New Export Features
- Added the ability to import and export custom configuration settings.
- Introduced an option to select the project origin when exporting files, with four choices:
- Current shared coordinate origin
- Internal Revit coordinates
- Project base point
- Site survey points
- Multiple IFC4 reference view improvements, including:
- Exporting certain contour names using geometry when appropriate
- Fixing scaling issues in triangulation coordinates
- Improved beam axis output
- Restriction on many disallowed IFC entities and geometry
- Allow listing of spatial boundary elements
- Supports remapping of IFC entity attributes beyond just attributes themselves.
- Creates more associated type entities for IFC objects.
- Consistent coverage of names, object types, and descriptions for all entities.
- Exports connectors even if they are not connected to other components.
- Exports parts hosted in linked files regardless of the ‘Export parts as building elements’ setting.
- Enhanced creation of IFCBUILDING and IFCSITE entities with better support for Illuminance and Volume parameter types.
- Includes exchange request information in the COBie export file header.
- New UI allows assigning export option addresses to buildings and/or sites.
- Reduces the number of faces in certain element geometries.
- Supports export of manufactured parts.
- Removes the unnecessary ‘Triangulation Only’ checkbox from the ‘Detail Level’ export options tab.
Export Error Fixes
- Exports “NetVolume” and “NetSideArea” quantities instead of “Gross”.
- Exports Predefined Type/ShapeType for slopes, stairs, and isolators correctly.
- Fixes export of certain elements to ensure correct types instead of IfcBuildingElementProxy or IfcBuildingElementProxyType.
- Repairs multi-story stair exits.
- Fixes export of certain spaces that used empty occupant fields.
- Corrects material assignments for certain elements.
- Fixes missing predefined types for some elements.
- Fixes missing configuration file names for certain beams.
- Corrects slope calculations for specific elements.
- Fixes unexpected errors when exporting floors as IfcRamp (IFC2x3 only).
- Fixes unexpected errors when exporting active view geometry from 3D views to websites (IFC4 RV only).
- Additional corrections to resolve unexpected errors in certain entity types.
- Restricts unconnected elements only to the IfcDistributionElement type.
- Restores calculation of ‘hidden’ and ‘external’ attributes.
- Restores accurate mapping of Revit mesh to IfcGrids.
- Restores correct UUIDs for certain doors, windows, and property sets.
- Restores remapping of deprecated IFC2x3 and IFC4 entities.
- Restores support for parameter mapping files and gap regulations in IFC2x3.
- Restores support for the IfcSpace ‘ElevationWithFlooring’ attribute.
- Restores tagging of IfcCurtainWallType.
- Restores rough tiling subdivision levels.
- Uses built-in parameters to fill some IFC parameters.
- Stops converting space heater types to electric heater types (Pre-IFC4).
- Exports some trimmed edges correctly in advanced BRep (IFC4).
- Limits distribution ports only to IfcDistributionElements (IFC4).
New Import Features
- Supports importing IfcCartesianPointList2D and IfcIndexedPolyCurve (IFC4).
Import Error Fixes
- Accepts structure items with undefined LoadBearing parameters.
- Better handling of slightly non-planar surfaces.
- Improved handling of scans with unnecessary start and end parameters.
- Uses incomplete placement information to correctly import object orientation.
- Ensures all created plans and parameters have unique names.
- Improves import of certain circular extrusion geometries where outer contour curves are slightly disjointed.
