How to Configure a Duct Layout System in Revit
Use the Configuration of Piping System dialog box to specify the fittings used during duct routing.
Specifying the Piping System Configuration
In the Project Browser, expand Views (All) > Floor Plans, then open a mechanical system view.
Next, expand Families > Duct > Types of Air Duct in the Project Browser.
Right-click on the duct type and select Type Properties.
Note: While the duct command is active, you can also click Edit Type to modify type properties.
In the Type Properties dialog box, under Pipe Fittings, click Configure Piping System, then select Edit.
Within the Configure Piping System dialog box, click on the part name to specify a different fitting.
Note: Although additional rows can be added, only one part should be assigned per section.
To adjust duct sizes, click Duct Sizes and use the Mechanical Settings dialog box to add or remove available sizes.
Note: When placing air ducts in Revit, the settings from the routing system configuration are applied first. If needed, further adjustments can be made in Mechanical Settings under the Angle options.
If you modify the routing system configuration and want to update existing ducts of the same type, select the existing duct segments and fittings, then go to the Modify tab and click Reapply Type.
To change the duct run type and apply a different routing system configuration, go to the Modify tab and select Change Type.
