How to Export and Import Shortcut Key Files in Revit

Revit allows you to customize shortcut keys to speed up your modeling workflow. However, these settings only apply to the software on the current computer. Setting up shortcuts again when switching computers can be tedious. So, how can you easily transfer your shortcut key settings?

1. First, launch Revit. Once opened, click the application menu button located in the upper-left corner, as shown below.

2. From the application menu, select Options to open the options dialog.

3. In the options window, switch to the User Interface tab, then click on Shortcut Keys, as illustrated.

4. Click the Export button and choose a location to save your shortcut key file.

5. To import the shortcut keys on another computer, repeat steps 1 to 3, then click Import. Locate and open the previously exported shortcut key file to apply the settings.

This process enables you to export your frequently used shortcut keys as a file, making it easy to import and use them on different computers—significantly improving your workflow efficiency.
