How to Convert CAD Drawings into an Editable Photoshop (PS) Format
After completing your CAD drawing, you might want to prevent unauthorized modifications or keep the design confidential by converting it into another file format. So, how do you convert a CAD drawing into an editable Photoshop file? Follow the steps below.
1. First, open your drawing in CAD and click on the Print button located on the toolbar, as shown in the image.
2. In the pop-up Print – Model dialog box, click the Printer/Plotter dropdown menu and select the .PNG format option from the list, as illustrated below.
3. When the Print – Paper size not found message appears, select the 7015.50X9933.00 pixels option (or choose a size that suits your needs), then click to confirm, as shown in the figure.
4. Return to the Print – Model window and click the Window (0) button, as depicted.
5. On the gray highlighted CAD screen, select the drawing area you want to print. Then click the Confirm button. A dialog will pop up prompting you to browse and save the file—choose a location that is easy for you to access, as demonstrated in the image.
6. Locate the saved blueprint file, open it in Photoshop, and you’ll be able to edit it directly without needing to convert it to another format, as shown.
