Placing Free-Form Steel Bars in Revit for Alignment and Distribution
You can easily align and distribute free-form steel bars within concrete elements of any geometric shape in Revit. This feature allows you to place free-form steel bars by selecting one or more face references in any view. The example below demonstrates the alignment and distribution of free-form steel bars in a 3D view.
To begin, go to the Structure tab and select the Reinforcement panel (steel bars).
Next, click Modify | Place free-form steel bars and choose the Placement Method panel to access free-form steel reinforcement options.
Then, select the Distribution Type panel to set the alignment method.
Note: To select multiple faces or path segments, click on each one individually. Use the Modify | Place Reinforcement panel and enable Multiple Choices to select multiple items.
In the Attributes panel, specify the type of steel reinforcement.
Within the Steel Bar Set panel, define the desired layout.
Proceed by clicking Modify | Place free-form steel bars and then the Next Step panel to select the surface. In the drawing area, choose the surface of the element that will serve as the main body for the free-form steel reinforcement.
Next, click Modify | Place free-form steel bars followed by the Next Step panel to select the path edges of the graphic element.
Tip: You can press the spacebar to continue selecting the distribution path seamlessly.
The reinforcement will automatically fill the body based on the referenced surface and the predefined attribute settings.
Press the Esc key to exit the free-form steel bars placement mode.
