How to Model Multi-Plane Steel Bars in Revit

How to Draw Multi-Plane Steel Bars in Revit? Use the standard drawing tools to define the shape of a steel bar bent across two planes. Drawing multi-plane steel bars follows the same process as drawing single-plane steel bars. Start by clicking the Structure tab, then select the Reinforcement panel (steel bars).

Next, click the Modify | Place Reinforcement tab, then the Placement Direction option (or use the Place Perspective panel to draw steel bars).

When prompted, select the element that will serve as the main body of the steel reinforcement.

Use the drawing tools to sketch the shape of the steel bars.

Then, click the Modify | Create Reinforcement Sketch tab, followed by the Reinforcement panel to work with multi-plane shapes. Copy the shape and connect it to the original shape using a connector segment on the steel bar. For the best visualization, switch to a 3D view.

There are three checkboxes available for further editing the shape of multi-plane steel bars. Hover over each checkbox to identify which tool it corresponds to.

These three checkboxes allow you to edit different segments of the multi-plane steel bar shape. Hover over each to see which line segment tool it activates. Use the options below to manage them:

First connector segment: Enable or disable this segment to switch its position. When enabled, the first line segment is active; when disabled, the second line segment is used instead.

Second connector segment: Similarly, enable or disable this segment to switch its position. Enabling it activates the second line segment; disabling it reverts to the first segment.

Disable copies of shape segments: This option deletes the copied shape but retains the connector segment at that location.

Any changes made to the original shape sketch will automatically mirror to the copied shape, and hooks can be added as needed. After completing your drawing, click the Modify | Create Reinforcement Sketch tab, then the Mode panel to exit editing mode and finalize the new shapes.

Use the rebar shape control handles to fine-tune the position and shape of the steel bars. You may need to adjust the visibility settings of the reinforcement to view it properly.
