This design serves as a vacation retreat for my retired client, his wife, and their occasionally visiting adult children. They seek a relaxed lifestyle centered around activities such as gardening, reading, swimming, tailwater skiing, waking up to the southern sun, enjoying sunsets from the bathtub, meditating, and appreciating outdoor water features at various heights on a terrace.

The site’s natural backdrop influenced the architectural form of the house. Our aim is to thoughtfully explore every space—an approach inspired by BIM tutorials—so that each bedroom offers unique views of the surrounding landscape.

The landscape transitions from dense pine forests to the lake’s edge, which plays a crucial role in shaping the design. The house is conceived on three levels: the central core, the indoor and outdoor living spaces, and the outdoor terrace.

The residential volumes are organized around a central garden, enhancing the house’s sensory experience. Although open-air, this garden is integral to the design, providing natural ventilation and increasing light and spatial quality indoors.

Many interior surfaces, including natural stone, remain unpolished and untreated, intentionally preserving a raw, exposed texture. This contrasts with the house’s clean, compact design, creating a striking balance within the space.

Fully processed unscented limestone adds a natural and pleasing aesthetic. We strive for the home to feel as organic as possible, with all elements locally produced to enhance quality and detail.
