Finding Open Pipeline Ends and Adding Pipe Caps in Revit
When modeling pipelines in Revit, it is crucial to identify open pipeline ends and add pipe caps to them, as shown in the image below. This guide explains how to quickly locate these open ends and apply pipe caps efficiently.
1. First, identify the pipelines that are currently open. Select all pipelines on the floor plan, then activate the Display Isolation switch found under the Analysis tab. A dialog box will appear—choose the pipeline type you want to check, such as “Pipeline.” Once confirmed, warning symbols will appear at the open ends of the pipelines, as illustrated in the figure.
2. Next, add pipe caps to the open ends. Select a pipeline and note its type name in the Properties panel. Then, in the Project Browser, locate the corresponding pipe cap family. Duplicate one of the pipe cap types and rename it to match the pipeline type name, as demonstrated in the image.
3. With the pipeline selected, access the Routing System settings in the Properties panel’s Edit Type dialog. Assign the newly created pipe cap type to the pipeline, as shown in the screenshot.
4. Finally, select all pipelines that require pipe caps. Navigate to the Modify tab and click the Cap Opening Breakpoint command. This tool allows you to batch add pipe caps to the ends of multiple pipelines quickly, as depicted below.
In summary, by following these steps and using the Display Isolation and Cap Opening Breakpoint commands, you can efficiently locate open pipeline ends and apply pipe caps in Revit, streamlining your workflow.
