How to Set Riser Symbols and Dimensions in Revit
In drawings, neutral pipe markings are typically represented by circles, which have specific requirements for size and line style. In Autodesk Revit, risers are indicated using rising and falling symbols. By default, these circles have an opening, appear thicker, and have a smaller diameter, which does not fully align with traditional Chinese drafting conventions.
1. To customize rising and falling symbols, users can adjust their styles in the system’s type parameters, set their sizes within mechanical settings, and modify their line types in object styles. First, select the pipeline system, then double-click the system name to open the Type Properties dialog box.
2. Within the Rise/Fall type parameters, click the button on the right labeled “…” as shown in the image below. Select Outline and click OK. This sets all rising and falling symbols to use the Outline style.
3. Go to the Manage tab, select MEP Settings, and open the Mechanical Settings dialog box. Under the Pipeline Settings tab, locate the Pipeline Lifting/Lowering Annotation Size option and set it to the desired value. For example, setting it to 3.0 mm means the symbol will print at 3.0 mm on the drawing.
4. Still in the Manage tab, open Object Styles. In the dialog box, expand the Pipeline category by clicking the “+” on the left. Find Upgrade and Lower, and change their projection line weight from the default 4 to 1 to achieve a finer line appearance.
5. After completing these steps, the riser symbols will display as expected, matching the desired drafting standards.
