How to Fix the Circular Reference Chain Error During Revit Hollow Stretching
When performing hollow stretching in Revit, you might encounter an error stating, “There is a circular reference chain in the highlighted element.” So, how should you address this issue?
This error occurs because hollow stretching relies on a picking path, which depends on the outcome of the initial hollow layout cut. This can create a circular reference chain, leading to the error.
To resolve this, you simply need to use the “Draw Path” tool. Some users may notice that the path appears on a different surface when drawing. In such cases, it’s important to first select a work plane. Once the work plane is set, you will be able to draw the path correctly without triggering the error.
