Industry Challenges
With the rapid growth of the Chinese economy, the construction market has expanded significantly. Chinese contractors, including Haohe Construction, are facing increasing challenges. Despite Haohe’s 30 years of experience in general contracting, traditional cost budgeting methods often result in significant discrepancies between estimated and actual costs, leading to unnecessary expenses.
Additionally, Haohe has identified that contractor management frequently lags behind other industries, particularly in the area of information management throughout the construction project lifecycle. Much of their project data still depends on inefficient manual input.
Company Needs
As their business continues to grow, Haohe recognizes the need for substantial changes. Their traditional management model is no longer adequate to support this rapid development. They understand that embracing change is essential to improving efficiency. Furthermore, with more global companies entering the Chinese market, Haohe is aware of the increasing demand for higher quality in construction projects. To remain competitive, they must transform into a data-driven, information-based enterprise.
Adopting iTWO
Haohe chose iTWO based on their strong belief in lean management—a philosophy focused on innovating traditional management by eliminating unnecessary resource use and continuously improving workflows. They consider lean management the most effective approach, and integrated IT solutions are vital to achieving it. Lean management represents a seamless integration of virtual and physical construction processes.
iTWO is an advanced BIM solution that enhances this integration by incorporating time (4D) and cost (5D) dimensions into the BIM model, all based on a single reliable data source. This approach aligns perfectly with Haohe’s management philosophy and supports the transformation of traditional construction into a modern, technology-driven industry.
iTWO has introduced new innovations and working models to Haohe, highlighting the importance of innovation in boosting competitiveness. Haohe recognizes the need to move beyond traditional mindsets and adopt international standards with an open, forward-thinking approach.
Project Progress: Xingfa Aluminum Industry
The Xingfa Aluminum Industry project marks Haohe’s first use of iTWO. By importing the BIM model into iTWO, the system efficiently calculated project quantities and generated accurate cost budgets closely aligned with actual expenses. To accommodate local requirements, iTWO provided a Chinese version of the budget, automatically linking budget items to the official Chinese quota database, giving Haohe a comprehensive understanding of budget details.
iTWO enables seamless collaboration between front-line and back-end project teams, facilitating the virtual management of the entire project. It offers all team members a clear, real-time view of the project’s status.
During construction, the five-dimensional virtual model guides teams through every stage, allowing timely responses and adjustments to project issues and changes.
The iTWO project dashboard serves as a real-time reporting platform, displaying up-to-date project data, including progress, costs, and current status, providing the entire company with clear insights.
iTWO’s concise report formats simplify review processes. For Haohe, data modifications are easily tracked and highlighted within reports, enhancing their bidding capabilities. Additionally, iTWO’s cost control features automatically integrate virtual and physical data, facilitating earned value analysis.
Haohe affirms that iTWO supports the entire construction project lifecycle. During construction, all project data is automatically exchanged between iTWO and their ERP system, achieving true integration of virtual and physical processes.
Benefits of iTWO for Haohe
1. Enhanced industry competitiveness
2. Increased profitability for both company and projects
3. Cost reduction
4. Lower project risks
5. Shortened project timelines
