Thanks to its geographical advantage, Shenzhen Shajing in China has flourished in the low-end manufacturing industry over the past two to three decades. The construction of a large number of factories has swallowed up the original beautiful wetlands and farmland. The factory parks derived from these low-end manufacturing industries are rapidly expanding in a disorderly manner on the outskirts of cities. The factory park and the external urban space both form negative places.
In recent years, many residential buildings and supporting schools have been built around the industrial park where the base is located. This project aims to reshape the green cultural space and provide a vibrant public space for people working in the park, surrounding residents, teachers and students in schools, as well as planting enthusiasts, to engage in interactive activities. At the same time, by organizing various experiential activities, the traditional planting culture of Shajing is inherited in a new way and becomes a medium for community building.

In the original overall layout of the park, there is an outdoor parking lot on the west side of the inner courtyard. In order to improve the spatial effect of the courtyard and preserve the parking function, a landscape platform has been added above the parking lot.

Through the setting of steps, the large platform becomes a continuation of the inner courtyard space, forming a public space system with different elevations, and the steps also serve as audience seats for outdoor activities held in the inner courtyard. The platform is filled with staggered concrete planting troughs, where people with different preferences plant different crops, shrubs, and flowers, creating an interesting and vivid landscape. The large opening on the platform provides good lighting for the parking lot below, while the camphor tree in the middle of the opening also provides greenery for the parking space.

In addition, the planting experience hall made of plain concrete material is located in the northeast corner of the large platform, providing a place for planting enthusiasts to learn and exchange ideas. The first floor serves as a public function, including exhibition, communication, and lecture functions, while the second floor is a space for planting operations and training functions. The two-story plant green wall displays a variety of plants, and the small two-story open space becomes an intimate and interactive place for communication and learning (BIM architecture). The internal suspended stairs and suspended floor slabs make this small building appear agile. Meanwhile, the two entrances at different elevations within the building establish a closer connection between the large platform, indoor space, and inner courtyard.
