How to modify the default annotation position of temporary dimensions in RevitWe all know that temporary dimensions are very helpful in improving our modeling speed, as they can help us locate and modify the model. When we click on doors and windows in Revit, the software automatically displays annotations on both sides of the doors and windows. However, the default dimension boundary of the software starts from the surface layer of the wall. Can we modify it?!
We click on ‘Other Settings’ in the’ Management ‘panel and find the option’ Temporary Dimensioning ‘in the drop-down menu that pops up.
After clicking, a pop-up will appear; Temporary dimension attribute“ We can make modifications to the dialog box here.
To change the annotation position of walls or doors and windows, modify it under the corresponding options. For example, if we want to modify the dimensions to start from the centerline of the wall, we can select the “Centerline” option under “Wall” and click “OK” to exit the dialog box.
At this point, when we go to the floor plan and click on the doors and windows, we will find that the dimensions marked on one side of the wall are starting from the centerline of the wall~~
